Ixonos makes freely available an open source solution and concept suited to providing services for families with children. The source code to be published will enable municipalities and other public administration bodies as well as their partners to take advantage of a predefined and tested solution for provision of health care services, free of licence fees.
“Since several years, we are strongly committed to the development of open source code and open architecture solutions. In addition to publishing this code, we also provide direct, fully open access to the development of the solution and to its version control. By sharing code, we want to continue improving the quality of online services, encouraging collaboration between municipalities and other public sector players and promoting service development”, says Teppo Kuisma, Vice President, Online Solutions at Ixonos.
The public sector ICT function of the Ministry of Finance also supports open approaches. The unit promotes and develops information management cooperation between central and local government, and it also formulates joint functional and technical solutions and methods. “Our goal is to improve and unify services that cross administrative and municipal boundaries as well as to cut costs. The Kohti kumppanuutta project and its open release of source code are exemplary contributions towards the strategic objectives of our unit”, comments Timo Valli, CIO.
All existing components of the health care service solution are publicly available, and organisations deploying them also benefit from ongoing development. The solution includes completely open interfaces for inter-system transfer and integration of information.
Ixonos and Arcusys provide the service package together as part of the national Kohti kumppanuutta project. The package also makes use of the Ixonos City Online™ cloud solution. The code management model recommended by the public sector ICT unit of the Ministry of Finance and by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has been applied when implementing the services. Ixonos offers all interested parties support for deployment and transition as well as for entire policy reform projects.
